New Technology Can Help Deaf People

Among the latest achievements in technology could be a brain chip, which serves as an interface between electronics and living brain tissue. It could help people who are deaf or have speech disorders. This news was presented by experts from the American University of California in San Francisco.

It is a new type of brain chip that is equipped with advanced artificial intelligence and is able to connect electrical signals of brain cells to text. Scientists used four volunteers to develop the brain chip. Thanks to them, artificial intelligence learned to associate a particular arrangement of brain waves with sentences in the form of text.

At the moment, it can only handle simple sentences made up of just 250 different words, but it is still a big progress. The system at this stage has only 3% error rate. For a bigger progress, scientists will need additional adepts for improvement. It is only a matter of time before the technology assistant spreads to people and assists them in their daily activities.
